About Me

Hi! My name is Melissa Stander and I am a classic Jill-of -All-Trades, master of some. Mostly, at the moment, I am a full-time stay-at-home mom of a beautiful and highly energetic toddler, which takes up a lot of my time and energy, in a (mostly) glorious way!

B.B., or “Before Baby”, I worked as a Marriage and Family Therapist in a non-public school with kids who have developmental disorders. Before that, I made my living as a Reiki Master/Teacher and a massage therapist. I have also been a working actress, a cartoonist, an artist’s model, a mutual fund salesperson and, of course, a service employee of many different stripes.

The one thing that has remained constant for me through all of these varied vocational changes has been my love of craft. My hands have always needed to be busy making things. Almost as much as I love to create, I appreciate the creativity of others. Handmade things and those who make them fascinate me endlessly. The resurgence of craft that seems to be happening right now is so exciting, that I really want too be part of it!
